Just wrapped fall semester, and I am so ready for a break! I ended the semester by achieving candidacy for my doctoral program, and it’s hard to believe I only have one content class left. With IRB approval and funding in hand, I am ready to start my dissertation project. The three article dissertation process will start in the spring with the lit review and hopefully data collection. Although we have been pushed to create an annotated bibliography, this process just hasn’t worked well for me. I work best when I can move bits and pieces of article notes around, I am experimenting with Ryan Holiday’s notecard method, which does exactly that. I’m hoping this makes the lit review process more manageable and robust and leaves me with a note system that allows me to repurpose sources and notes for other works.
I plan to disconnect for the next two weeks! I uninstalled my work email app, the out of office is up, and there’s a backlog of friends to see and relaxing to be done. Looking forward to spending time in front of the fire with my partner and the dogs. See you in 2026!
